When you live in the beautiful North Georgia mountains, there is always something to do.  Although our visitors usually only come for specific times of year, even after the leaf fall we are blessed  swith a unique home with plenty to offer.

The Wayne Rollins Planetarium at Young Harris College kicks off the holiday season with 2 shows,

Hiawassee is the home of the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds and Hamilton Gardens.  There is no better way to see this area than the spectacular Mountain Country Christmas in Lights.  A treat for the entire family at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee, GA along the shores of beautiful Lake Chatuge in the Northeast Georgia mountains.  The fairgrounds are transformed into a spectacular and magical holiday light show, with special Christmas music provided local churches, art & craft vendors, holiday food, a visit and pictures with Santa, and of course hot chocolate and s’mores.

And who doesn’t want to be there for the release of a highly anticipated holiday wine.  Be at the Paradise Hills resort in Blairsville on November 24th for the Black Friday “Sip and Shop” event.  Local vendors will be present, and you can enjoy Paradise Hills’ delicious wine and great atmosphere as you shop.

Also this event will mark the release of the highly anticipated holiday wine: Holiday Spiced Solstace.

Speaking of the wines available right here in our mountains, take a stop by Nottely River Valley Vineyards .  A family owned and operated vineyard and winery established in 2008. The vineyard and winery occupies 10 acres of a 93 acre farm that has been in the family since 1820. The vineyard consist of high density plantings of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Primitivo, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and the French Hybrids – Chambourcin, Chardonel, & Seyval Blanc.  Get a taste or buy a good friend a bottle of a wine fashioned after the “Old World Style, Hand-Crafted” wines of Europe.

Another jewel of the Appalachian Wine Country, Odom Springs Vineyards.  For more than a century, the Odom family has owned land in the Young Cane valley. The vineyards and winery are situated on 16 acres of Odom land, most recently owned by the late Earl Odom and his wife, Gwen. The Creekside, New Ground, and Hillside vineyards are located on the nearby 60-acre farm of Gordon (Papaw/Pop) and Christine (Grandmaw) Odom, known as Pop’s Walk. Or maybe even spend the night at the Odom Springs Vineyards Lodge.

So, have you been thinking of that second home?  What better time to visit us here in the North Georgia Mountains? Great Homes tells us “second homeowners have seasonal quirks to their real estate markets. Sales activity is driven not only by the time of year when most visitors descend, but also by the season when potential buyers hope to get the most use out of their homes. “  Does this mean you may find a deal?  Contact us here at Union Realty and let us know what you are thinking, what you may be looking for.

Come spend some time enjoying the “off” season and let us show you what we have to offer.  They say the beauty of Brasstown Valley Resort makes for a wonderful and romantic get away!
